“Midnight in Paradise”   

This quilt was made as the opportunity quilt for the 2009 quilt show of the Friendship Knot Quilters’ Guild of Sarasota, Florida.  It is the result of a combination of two designs by Judy Niemeyer, Bird of Paradise and Tropical Flowers.   It is machine pieced and machine appliquéd using the invisible machine appliqué technique of Harriet Hargrave.  It was quilted on a longarm machine by Marie Snyder, a professional quilter and guild member.  The piecing and appliqué preparation were done by members of the guild.  The appliqué and final completion of the quilt was don e by Susan Ott, who chaired the committee.  Construction of the quilt was done in 2007 and it was quilted and completed in 2008.

This quilt won a second place ribbon in the Chapter Row category of the National Quilters' Association show in Columbus, Ohio. It has also been juried in the AQS show in Nashville in August, 2008.
