Newest Members
Wouldn’t it be nice to get to know our new members? Well, now we can. Each month we will have bio’s on our new members. If we don’t get them in the month following their initial membership, we’ll get them in during the months to come. Read on and meet some of our new quilters.
New Member Bio - Sarah Nolt
I'm a transplant from Pennsylvania where I grew up in an Old Order Mennonite home and community. Quiltmaking was something that most women in the culture engaged in for practical purposes, and later as a cottage industry. My mother helped us, (brother, sister and me) to handstitch a four patch quilt for our hope chest with scraps leftover from clothing she made for the family. Next we made a nine patch, again using scraps but this time on the Singer treadle sewing machine. For our next projects we were permitted to use her electric sewing machine. So making quilts has been something that gives my life continuity. In more laidback seasons of life I find myself always being able to fall back on developing another level of interest in quiltmaking. More recently, I've become passionate about making mostly hand stitched Cathedral Windows in all sizes, and making quilts to donate for various purposes.
Sarah joined the Guild in March, 2008. Please give her a big welcome.
