Friendship Knot Quilters’ Guild
Executive Board Meeting
April 10, 2007
Present: Tena Davis, Joy Abbott, Cass Bowen, Marlene Kurtz, Susan Ott, Linda Pearce, Jane Shannon
Old Business: Tena has revised the wording in our agreement with Church of the Palms after having the meeting room contract reviewed by a real estate attorney. Our contract with the Church now extends for the rest of this year. The Venice Art Quilt Show “Metrotextural” will be from June 20 through August 10, with submission procedures for local quilters wishing to participate. Tena advised that she reviewed accounting records for our recent quilt show and found everything in order.
New Business: A Board committee will look at the Guild’s advertising policy and at class policies. Sheri Cooper has volunteered to take over as newsletter editor, although she is only here for six months of the year; the mechanics of this were discussed. The position of Guild Historian was discussed, and it was decided that instead of the scrapbooks that have been kept in the past, perhaps this function could best be carried out online by posting a written history of the Guild on the website as well as photographs of Guild members, quilts and activities.
Committee Reports:
Treasurer: The 2005 financial records have been reviewed by Bette Behanna, found to be in order, and were accepted by the Board.
Membership: Current membership is 264. New cards are being printed.
Website: Use of the Google group is growing. Adding photographs of members was discussed.
Programs: Possible plans for future meetings were considered, including a members’ flea market in June, working on donation quilts in July, and showing antique quilts at the August meeting.
Education: Upcoming workshops were discussed, including the possibility of canceling Jan Krueger’s third class if enrollment for it does not increase.
Respectfully submitted,
Jane Shannon, Secretary
