Friendship Knot Quilters’ Guild
Executive Board Meeting
August 14, 2007
Present: Tena Davis, Susan Ott, Linda Pearce, Kathy Burg, Sue Hootman, Bette Behanna, Jane Shannon
Old Business:
Venice Art Quilt Show:
-
Approximately $35.50 is needed to pay additional expenses incurred from the exhibit at the Venice Art Guild.
-
It was discovered that unauthorized DVD copies of the exhibit were made by one individual associated with the Art Center for the purpose of raising money for the Center. The individual was immediately informed that such reproduction for sale was illegal without authorization by each artist. The DVD sales display was removed. All parties are being notified of the situation and action taken to remedy it.
By-Laws and Policy Review: The By-Laws and Policies Review Committee has met and drafted proposed revisions which it will present to the board at its September meeting.
Quilt Show: Possible candidates who might be interested in chairing the next Quilt Show were suggested.
New Business:
Election of Officers: A nominating committee will be formed to solicit a slate of officers for publication in the October newsletter.
Quilt Show T-Shirts: The board agreed to allow Susan Ott’s dyeing group to dye the remaining Quilt Show T-shirts at their retreat. Retreat participants would each be able to keep one shirt and the others would then be sold to Guild members.
Committee Reports:
Treasurer: Susan presented a mid-year Budget Report for review by the board.
Historian: New Historian Kathy Burg was welcomed and thanked for taking on this responsibility. Possible changes in documenting the Guild activities by the historian were discussed, including using electronic media instead of the traditional scrapbooks. It was decided that Kathy will post electronic photos on the website and also make posters quarterly that will be displayed at the monthly meetings.
Library: Some quilt-related DVDs will be added to the library’s offerings.
Newsletter: Deadline for the September issue will be August 27.
Education: Policies are being reviewed and finalized. Plans are made to have another quilt retreat at Dayspring next July, and a request to approve a deposit amount of $3187 for the retreat will be presented to the membership at Monday’s Guild meeting for approval.
Respectfully Submitted,
Jane Shannon, Secretary.
