Blocks Auction

blocks for auction

The Threads of Life 2011 Quilt Show will again have a Quilt Blocks Auction.

For the Quilt Blocks Auction, a Cottage Group, a group of friends, or any other group of Guild members or individuals, can select a quilt block design, and construct a set of quilt blocks that will coordinate as a quilt and can be auctioned off to the highest bidder.

The sets of blocks should contain the number of blocks which correspond to a normal quilt layout , i.e., 9, 12, 16, or 20 etc. Each block should be completed with all pieces sewn together. No uncompleted blocks will be accepted.

The sets of Quilts will be on display for the 2 days of the Quilt Show. A starting bid per block will be assigned to each block set. All sets will start out at the same price per block. During the two days, attendees to the Quilt Show will have the opportunity to make a bid, or a number of bids on a set of blocks they especially like.

The Quilt Blocks Auction will close at 2:30 PM on Saturday of the Show and the lucky bidder will take home the Quilt Blocks to make a new quilt.

When the Quilt block sets are turned in, please fill out the name and phone number on the Quilt Block Auction form. This is so someone in the group can be contacted if there is a question. Forms can be obtained from the Quilt Blocks Chairman. DEADLINE FOR TURN IN IS THE JANUARY 2011 GUILD MEETING. No blocks will be accepted after that date. This will give the Committee Chairs time to get the quilt blocks ready for display.

So put your heads together with your friends or cottage group and make a set of quilt Blocks to be auctioned off to some lucky person.

Last year we had 22 sets of Quilt blocks up for bid. Lets make this Quilt Show even better.
